Yellow Flax or Prairie Flax15 viewsI believe this is my first time to photograph Yellow Flax on the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. I was photographing landscapes and then wildflowers at Caddo Lake, and I kept noticing this small pale, or faded, yellow flower growing among the brighter Sneezeweed. Eventually, I decided to take a closer look, and I'm so glad I did! It's a beautifully delicate flower. There was already a breeze beginning to stir, but I was able to capture this image during a lull. Equipment: Sony A700, Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX Macro, Manfrotto 055XPROB w/3030 head, and cable release.Jun 02, 2010

Western Spiderwort16 viewsThe Western Spiderwort is such a lovely flower! I get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction photographing it. It's flower and supporting plant is sturdy enough to not wave or shudder in a slight breeze, by Oklahoma standards. This particular flower was found on the shore of Caddo Lake on the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Southwest Oklahoma on May 16, 2010. Equipment: Sony A700, Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX Macro, Manfrotto 055XPROB w/3030 head, and cable release.Jun 02, 2010

Bee Blossom6 viewsGaura sufulta. Discovering this plant blooming about 50 feet from the north shore of Caddo Lake on the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (WMWR) was very exciting and satisfying at the same time. I am so thankful there was only a slight breeze this morning and my patience was such that I could wait for the moment between breaths to capture a sharp image.May 31, 2010
